Nebo or MyScript Notes are sometimes pre-installed on select devices, giving you instant access to powerful note-taking features right out of the box. However, pre-installed versions may not include the latest updates or full feature set. This article helps you identify which version is on your device and guides you through the steps to upgrade to the latest version for the best experience.

Upgrade Nebo on Lenovo devices

If Nebo 4.0.16 or 5.8 is pre-installed on your Lenovo tablet and you're unsure about updating or switching to newer versions (Nebo 6.3), follow these steps:

Check for system updates

Lenovo handles updates for pre-installed apps. If you don’t see a system update:

  1. Check if your device is eligible on the Lenovo Support Site.
  2. Contact Lenovo support to confirm update availability.

Explore the latest Nebo version

To try Nebo's latest features, you can:

  • Download the free trial from the Google Play Store (limited to a few pages).
  • Buy the full version from the Google Play Store for unlimited access and use on all Android devices connected to your Google ID.

Back up your Nebo library

  1. Open Settings in the Notes side panel.
  2. Tap Backup, then Back up library.

After updating the OS or app:

  1. Open Nebo and log in to your MyScript account.
  2. Check if your library is intact. If notes are missing, restore them from the backup created earlier.

MyScript Notes 7 and higher

Some Lenovo devices came with Nebo pre-installed and were updated from version 4.0.16 to 6.3. To try MyScript Notes 7 or later on your Lenovo device, download the app from the Google Play Store and start a free trial for full access. When the trial period ends, you can choose to continue your subscription to keep all features, or use the free version with limited functionality.

Upgrade Nebo on Huawei devices

Huawei originally included Nebo 3 on some Android devices but has stopped updating them after switching to Harmony OS. Since Harmony OS doesn’t support the Google Play Store, users can no longer download the Nebo app on Huawei devices.

If you can't access Nebo on your Huawei device:

  • Contact Huawei support or call 950800 for assistance.
  • We recommend purchasing it on the Google Play Store for the latest version.
