Styling and structuring your content

Nebo lets you easily structure and emphasize your notes. Whether your content is handwritten or typed, you can format text, apply colors, manage lists, and customize paragraph styles.

Apply basic text formatting

Learn how to enhance your documents with basic text formatting tools. Whether you want to underline, highlight, or apply different styles, this section will walk you through the options.

Apply basic text formatting using the toolbar

To emphasize specific parts of your note, you can use the pen tool or the highlighter tool.

  • To underline text, simply grab the pen tool and draw a single or double line under your text.
  • To highlight content with a translucent color, you can use the highlighter tool to swipe across the text or use the pen tool to neatly frame it.

Tap the highlighter tool again to adjust its width and choose between Freehand or Smart mode.

Apply basic text formatting using the menu

  1. Long press to select your content.
  2. Choose Style... and pick the style you need.

You can also customize the actions for strike-through and underline gestures and learn how to manage your settings.

Switch pen types

Nebo lets you choose from different pen types to customize your content. To change pen types:

  1. Tap the pen icon in the toolbar to open the Pen menu.
  2. Choose between Felt, Fountain, and Brush.
  3. Adjust the pen width and pressure sensitivity.
  4. Test your settings in the blank space.

Customize your notes with the Apple Pencil

iOS

If you have an iPad and an Apple Pencil, you’re in for a seamless note-taking experience with Nebo, packed with features to make the most of your Apple Pencil.

Pressure sensitivity

Your Apple Pencil responds naturally to pressure, from a light touch to a deeper press. To access pressure sensitivity settings, tap the pen icon in the toolbar and use the slide to adjust it.

Hover

Preview your mark before you make it. Works seamlessly with the pen, eraser, and highlighter. When your Pencil gets close to the screen, it shows a preview of the tool on the canvas.

Floating toolbar

With a quick squeeze on the Apple Pencil Pro or a double tap on the Apple Pencil 2nd generation, Nebo’s floating toolbar pops up, giving you easy access to key tools. Switch seamlessly between the lasso, eraser, pen, highlighter, or adjust stroke thickness without interrupting your workflow.

Manage colors

The toolbar includes a default color palette for quickly adding colors to your content, whether for writing or highlighting. You can also customize the palette by adding your own colors to fit your style.

Add a color

  1. Choose a color or tap + to create a new one.
  2. Adjust hue, saturation, and brightness to get the perfect shade.
  3. Tap + in the top-right of the Color menu to add it to your toolbar.

Edit or delete a color

  1. Tap a color to edit it.
  2. Update its hue, saturation, and brightness levels, if needed.
  3. Tap the + to add a new color or the Trash icon to delete it.

Reorder your colors

Long press a color, then drag it to rearrange the toolbar.

Add emojis

Nebo can recognize many emojis to make your content more fun and personal. Just draw the emoji shape, tap the conversion preview, and pick the one you want. Here’s a list of emojis that Nebo can recognize:

Work with lists

Nebo makes it easy to stay organized by allowing you to create lists and checkboxes directly within your notes. Great for to-do lists, task tracking, or outlining ideas.

Create a list in notebooks, boards and PDFs

You can create structured lists and checkboxes in your notes using your pen.

  1. Write your list and use the lasso tool to select it.
  2. Tap Convert..., then Text.
  3. Tap converted checkboxes to mark them as checked or unchecked.

Edit your list in notebooks, boards and PDFs

  1. Tap on the converted text.
  2. Choose List... and pick the type of list you need.

Create a list in documents

  1. Write a list and double tap to convert it.
  2. Tap checkboxes to mark them as checked or unchecked.

Edit your list in documents

  1. Tap your text block to select it.
  2. Tap the icon in the top-left corner.
  3. Choose between Bulleted list, Numbered list, and Checklist.

Use abbreviations, superscripts, and symbols

Abbreviations, superscript, and symbols are useful when taking notes, and Nebo supports many common ones. If the abbreviation you need isn’t supported, you can add it to the user dictionary for better recognition in the future.

Manage content layout

Nebo allows you to easily manage text styles, organize paragraphs, and adjust indentation to create structured, readable documents.

Organize your content

  1. Tap your text block to select it.
  2. Tap the icon in the top-left corner.
  3. Choose Title, Subtitle or Paragraph.

Customize indentation

Indentation helps structure your content, especially in outlines or hierarchical notes.

  1. Select your text with the lasso.
  2. Tap Indent...
  3. Tap Increase or Decrease.

Create and manage columns

Nebo allows you to create multiple columns within your notes, enabling side-by-side content such as text, images, or diagrams.

If your columns are only made of text:

  1. Write your content.
  2. Tap the text block to select it.
  3. Use the right handle to resize the block and move it to the left.
  4. Write your next column's content next to the adjusted text.
  5. Repeat the process for each column.

If your columns contain images, diagrams or math equation:

  1. Add the item to your page.
  2. Tap to select the item.
  3. Resize using the handles.
  4. Drag it to where you want it.
