Drawing and converting diagrams

Nebo lets you easily draw diagrams in your notes and convert them into a clean digital format for sharing or exporting.

Create diagrams

In notebooks, boards and PDFs, diagrams can be drawn anywhere on the page, allowing for maximum flexibility in organizing your thoughts and visuals. Simply start sketching within an empty area, and the app will recognize your input.

For documents, however, you’ll first need to create a designated diagram block before drawing shapes and connectors:

  1. Double tap an empty space and choose Diagram.
  2. Draw shapes and connectors with your pen to create a diagram.

Obtain perfect shapes

There are several ways to obtain perfect shapes:

  • Draw a shape in a single stroke, then hold your pen on the screen to convert it.
  • Draw multiple shapes, select them with the lasso tool, and tap Convert.

In documents, you can also:

  • Select the object, tap ... at the top-right, and choose Convert to convert the entire diagram.

Select shapes

In notebooks, boards, and PDFs, use the lasso to select hand-drawn shapes. For converted shapes, either tap with your finger or use the lasso.

In documents, tap a shape or use the lasso to select it—whether hand-drawn or converted. To select the entire diagram, tap along its edges.

Align shapes

  1. Tap the item with your finger.
  2. Adjust its size or position, and alignment guides will appear to help you place it perfectly.

Edit shapes

To edit shapes in notebooks, boards, and PDFs, you need to convert them first:

  • Rotate—Use the rotation arrow below your converted shape.
  • Resize—Drag the corners of the shape to adjust the size.
  • Move—Drag the shape to reposition it.
  • Cut, Copy and Delete—Select the shape to see these options.

In documents, you can edit both hand-drawn and converted shapes:

  • Rotate—Use the rotation arrow below your hand-drawn or converted shape.
  • Resize—Drag the corners of the shape or diagram object to adjust the size.
  • Move—Drag the shape or diagram object to reposition it.
  • Cut, Copy and Delete—Select the shape or the diagram object, then ... to see these options.

Color shapes

  1. Tap the highlighter tool and your preferred color.
  2. Long press an edge of your hand-drawn or converted shape to color it.
  3. Long press inside the shape to fill it with color.

Enjoy haptic feedback with your Apple Pencil Pro

iOS

Haptic feedback enhances your experience by giving tactile responses that boost both precision and intuitive control. Your Apple Pencil provides feedback when:

  • Rotating a shape or line to align with its sides.
  • A line or arrow snaps to a shape (not when moved afterward).
  • Line connectors rotate every 90°.
  • A shape is converted.
